This is FOSTER THE PEOPLE-I dont know much about them, and maybe for that reason I am especially intrigued by their music! However, I do know they are awkward, and that I love their sound. I have been listening to more of their stuff lately, and I really dig the song, 'Helena Beat.

Celebrating 24
This year I turned 24. Being out of college and now working full time, I have started to realize how hard it can be just to get a couple friends rounded up for a get-together! Since my birthday is towards the end of the sunny season, I really wanted to make it a point to see everyone and share the time with them, since some I will only get to see once a year!
I found a lot of ways to celebrate this birthday, but I thought was a simple day at the beach was the best. We had so much fun!! Best friends, beach, beers, caesars!

"Michael Gabriel trained and performed as a classical singer in Vancouver, B.C. He has been the lead singer in original bands in both Canada and the United States. After releasing two solo EP's in -‘Open to the Moment’ & ‘Places Along the Way’, he toured with his classical guitar across Canada.
For the 2007 Canadian National Tour he traveled for eight months from the Atlantic to the Pacific coast and many places in-between. During the tour, he performed solo (guitar & vocals) songs from the debut full-length album: ‘The Certainty of Change’ and showcased new material.

So Day 5! Our last day in Quebec! We got up early, packed our gear and canoed it to shore, where we were semi-shocked to see a full parking lot and tons of people getting out the canoes and kayaks-Im talkin like 30 boaters! Normally at this time of year, people are already inside with their heat on! But with temperatures hitting the high 20s, why not enjoy it?
An Indian Summer in October, I could get used to this...
Then we paddled around Lac La Peche to try to soak up as much of this warm, calm day as possible, before heading back onto the road for another 8-10 hour drive back. The entire lake is surrounded by these cool little islands (which are off-bounds, for what Im assuming are protection and preservation reasons). However, you are free to roam around the many rocky inlets around the lake. Some of these spots are high up, and you can get a really nice view. Even on a busy day, the lake is quiet, and unpopulated. It is a perfect getaway from noise and advertisements, pollution, and work!

The look out on the picture above was amazing and soooo peaceful. Personally, I would say this was the most relaxing part of my whole trip. This is what I came for.
Lac La Peche has tons of wildlife! We saw fish jumping out of the water all day and night, and we woke up to loons, and luckily not a bear. :) We even saw Bald Eagles!

The plant life at Lac La Peche was also very abundant. Some areas were flourishing with so many water plants that the lac water was slowed to a halt. The surface was so calm it could appear as smooth glass.
Im sure this thick, interwoven plant mass acts not only as aquatic waterway, and santuary for many fish species- but is probably acting as one of natures most efficient filters. Nature is beautiful! At one point, we actually used some of the lac water for drinking (we also ran it through a carbon filter).
Beyond these plant regions in the water, where the plant life is not as dense, the water resumes its regular flow speed. It is still calm water, but your eye tricks you into feeling that you are heading towards some fast moving river!

| Little House on the Prairie revisited? |
We found this mini Trading Post (pictures below) posing as an artistic depiction of an old Saloon town, complete with "Big Liz'z Boarding House", an "Ambulance", Barber shop, an Indian village, a cemetary and even an "Under Takers". From the road, we actually thought it was real!
It was somewhere off of Highway 41, just South of Pembroke.
Inside, you will find a real store, selling your usual native goods such as; mocassins, dream catchers, deer antlers etc.

After 3 days of driving, conferencing, exploring, and a night partying in Cheapeau, QB, we are over tired, and giddy with our second wind when we realize we have reached our destination!
We packed the canoe, equipped with whatever we needed for the trip and started making way to our paddle-in only campsite across Lac La Peche. It was an extremely warm day for October, about 26 degrees Celsius! And as we arrived, the sun was on its way down...:)
I was pleasantly surprised to find a completely isolated campsite on a peninsula awaiting us. It was the cleanest campsite I think Ive ever seen. It was very well-treed, no gravel (ew),had immediate access to the water, and was well stocked with fire wood and even had its own outhouse, which was also the cleanest Ive seen. Ever. My experience at Lac La Peche was awesome, and I when I left I wished I could just stay a liiiiittle bit longer. I would definitely recommend this campground. It is phenomenol. Check it out! To Try or Not to Try
In fact, you feel healthy, and energetic. Sushi comes in all sorts, and Im no expert, but I will say I have tried lots of Sushi, from Coast to Coast. The best to way to learn about anything, is to just go ahead and try it. The worst that will happen is you wont like it!
Here is a list of Sushi restaurants I have tried specifically in Souther Ontario, and highly recommend:
- EAST, St. Catharines
They have the best torpedo tempura shrimp Ive ever had. I must say EAST is my personal favourite.

The decor is modern, and the service is unbeatable every time.
The location is convenient, right downtown St. Catharines on King Street. I would give EAST 5 stars over and over!

The sushi is really really good, and the atmosphere inside is comfortable. The colors are rich, and warm, and the staff is really friendly and accomodating. There are 2 lounge spots in the front of the restaurant with large windows so if you can, make a reservation to snag these comfy corners.
I have also tried, and enjoyed sushi from:
- Ichiban, Burlington & London
- The Iguana Lounge, Windsor
- Conception Sushi, London (has all-you-can-eat)
