The Experience of Insight
While farming in Thailand I had many opportunities to learn about meditation from many practiced-meditators and teachers, and was even able to work on a few farms where meditation was a part of the daily structure. I found the experience extremely eye-opening, humbling, and even spiritual. While living on one particular "Meditation Farm", I had some time to read a book during one of our mid-day Siestas. I chose "The Experience of Insight", by Joseph Goldstein.
The following is a short excerpt from the book that I enjoyed because it reminded me of the purpose and the destiny of the human life (death), and how we take advantage of life so often, just to find that time has slipped by. Living in the awareness of the presence of death could be viewed morbid, but it actually allows us to live in the moment mindfully. It teaches us to be grateful for each moment, and to live humbly, in harmonious meaning:

The feelings that come when this music is played...ahhh! Its so phenomenal! Its just so beautiful what some people can do with this instrument. I had to share this!! Enjoy the next few minutes of Zither. :)
You Cant Tame These Horses
The metaphor of wild horses has been around for ever. You hear books named after them, songs, most significantly Wild Horses by The Rolling Stones, and then you have the British band, Wild Horses formed "back in the day" by Thin Lizzy. Even Atmosphere, my favourite Minneapolis hip-hopper puts a spin on it! I think the idea of wild horses-well, there is just something about it that is so mystical.

This is FOSTER THE PEOPLE-I dont know much about them, and maybe for that reason I am especially intrigued by their music! However, I do know they are awkward, and that I love their sound. I have been listening to more of their stuff lately, and I really dig the song, 'Helena Beat.

"Michael Gabriel trained and performed as a classical singer in Vancouver, B.C. He has been the lead singer in original bands in both Canada and the United States. After releasing two solo EP's in -‘Open to the Moment’ & ‘Places Along the Way’, he toured with his classical guitar across Canada.
For the 2007 Canadian National Tour he traveled for eight months from the Atlantic to the Pacific coast and many places in-between. During the tour, he performed solo (guitar & vocals) songs from the debut full-length album: ‘The Certainty of Change’ and showcased new material.
Michael dedicated part of his 2007 tour to spreading awareness about children in developing countries and he continues to with this message today..."

A Hard Rains A-Gonna Fall
Camping for my sisters birthday in April sounded like a great idea. I guess I missed the memo that
Aprils Showers bring May flowers..
We chose Wheatley Provincial Park, just North East of Leamington and Point Pelee- Canadas most southern tip, and a key point on the migration route of the monarch butterfly. We got a really big campsite off of a creek, which was great but that didnt stop the torrential raining!
